Club wants government to support private initiatives

The governor of platinum All Stars United football Club, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter, Barrister Andem E. Ndem, has called on the government at all levels to support the private sector initiatives by providing them with the funds to actualize their objectives. Ndem, who made the call in an interview with newsmen during the football competition organized between married men and single men within the club at the national stadium in Abuja, also urged the government to provide an enabling environment for the youths that see football clubs as a means of livelihood.

He noted that the leadership of the club organized the competition between married and Bachelors, to foster social interaction among them. He said that the club was charged with the responsibility of visiting the orphanage homes to carter for the welfare of the less privileged ones in the society. He advised the youths that have the interest in sport to remain focused and determined to pursue their career to the logical conclusion.

The government therefore, appealed to winners and losers of the competition to continue to contribute positively towards the development and unity of the club. On his part, the secretary and captain of the club, Dr Andrew Bassey Ubong, said that the leadership of the club would take the youths along especially those who have the interest in the sports. Ubong disclosed that the club had sponsored three persons to abroad to pursue their football career.
