Senate President, David Mark, yesterday led the federal government of Nigeria delegation to the 2014 FIFA soccer world cup in Brazil. A statement issued by his Press Secretary, Paul Mumeh, said President Goodluck Jonathan in a letter mandated Mark to lead the government delegation, including Chairman Senate Committee on Sports, Adamu Gumba and his House of Representatives’ counterpart, Godfrey Gaiya.
According to the statement, on the entourage also are governors of Cross River state, Liyel Imoke, his Katsina state counterpart, Shehu Shema, Federal Capital Territory Minister, Bala Mohammed, Culture and Tourism Minister, Edem Duke as well as Minister for Youth Development, Boni Haruna .
Others on the entourage includes; Sports Minister, Tamuno Danagogo, Minister of State Foreign Affairs 1, Professor Viola Onwuliri, and Commissioner of Police, Kola Sodipo. Meanwhile, Mark is expected to deliver President Jonathan’s goodwill message to the players and officials and hold talks with them ahead of the opening game.
The delegation will attend the opening ceremony of the mundial and watch Super Eagles match with Bosnia before returning to Nigeria.
