FCT minister confers Pakistani president with honorary Abuja citizenship

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Bala Mohammed, has presented the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mamnoon Hussain, with a key to the city of Abuja, which confers on him the honorary citizenship of Abuja. The key also confers on President Hussain, who is in the country on a State visit, all the rights and privileges of a full-fledged citizen as a mark of respect for the strong friendship and cordial relationship between Pakistan and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

According to a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the FCT minister, Muhammad Sule , the minister, made the presentation, when he received the visiting President on behalf of President Goodluck Jonathan, on Monday, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. It added that Mohammed officially welcomed the Pakistani President to Abuja, and wished him a memorable stay as a citizen.

“Those who accompanied the FCT Minister to receive him include the Minister of State, Foreign Affairs, Dr. Nurudeen Mohammed, FCT Permanent Secretary, Engr. John Chukwu, FCDA Executive Secretary, Engr. Adamu Ismaila, FCT Chief of Staff, Alhaji Yau Muhammad Gital as well as diplomats from Pakistan and Nigeria”, the statement said.
