No fewer than fifty houses has been destroyed in Takum local government area as a result of wind storm that wrecked havoc in several parts of the areas on Tuesday.
The windstorm which was followed by a heavy downpour which people’sdaily learnt lasted for several hours, was observed to have led to the massive destruction of houses.
Areas badly affected in the council, includes Angwan Rogo, Cameroon quarters to mention but just a few.
At the time of filing this report, business activities have been brought to a standstill as the people were noticed to have been going about taking stocks of their destroyed homes and other valuables.
Some of the victims who bared their minds to our correspondent, said the wind storm which was subsequently associated with heavy rainfall, blew off the roof of over fifty houses.
With tears streaming down her eyes, Hanatu Sani, who narrated how the roof of her two bedrooms apartment was shattered by the wind, adding that all her belongs were as well destroyed.
The victims who estimated the destroyed goods to over a hundred millions of Naira, urged the state and the federal governments to as a matter of urgency come to their aides.
They also beckoned at the North East Development Commission, NEDC, to as well reached out to them with relief materials.
Piqued by the development, the state governor, Dr. Agbu Kafes, have sent a high powered delegation to the local government to evaluate the level of damage caused by the windstorms.
The delegations, as noticed by People’sdaily includes, commissioner, ministry of Transportation development, Yakubu Samaila Yakubu, Commissioner, ministry of Youth and Sports development, among others.
