The former chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abdullahi Adamu (Candido) has appealed to Nigerian lawmakers to come up with a Bill seeking promotion of culture.
The former AMAC chairman made the suggestion recently during the celebration of Gwandara cultural festival of Kurudu community in the FCT.
While appreciating the indigenes of Kurudu for reviving their culture
Candido said that an event of that nature would go a long way to make the youths trace their origin and also rekindle their age long culture.
He noted that any tribe that has forgotten its culture has certainly forgotten itself.
He urged other communities in the FCT to emulate the indiges of Kurudu.
Also, AMAC chairman, Hon Christopher Zakka spoke at length on the importance of preserving culture saying that our culture is our pride and there is a need for everyone to embrace his / her culture.
Similarly, a former council secretary in AMAC, Idris Musa Karahi called for serious revival of Nigeria’s rich culture.
“Many tribes in Nigeria have forgotten their culture. The youths to be are unable to trace their origin, among others”.
