The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) Abuja has warned newly inducted members against sharp practices in the engineering profession.
NSE’s National President, Engr. Margaret Aina Oguntala, gave the admonition over the weekend in Abuja during the 24th Induction Ceremony of NSE and a public lecture.
Forty-one engineers were inducted into the NSE Abuja branch at the occasion, with the theme of the lecture being, “achieving enginermeringbl success:entry tips to a young Nigerians.”
Engr. Margaret, who was represented by NSE Executive Secretary, Engr. Joshua Egub, urged inductees to embrace the principles of integrity, innovation, and excellence, which are the qualities that define our noble profession.
She said worldwide, engineers hold a sacred trust for citizens to design, build, and maintain infrastructure that serves the common good and enhances the quality of life for all.
“With this trust comes a great responsibility, one that requires us to continuously strive for excellence, uphold the highest standards of professionalism, and always act in the best interests of the public.
“I have no doubt that our inductees will rise to meet these expectations, contributing their unique talents and perspectives to the advancement of engineering practice in Nigeria.
“To the inductees, as you officially join our great and honorable association today, I urge you to embrace the principles of integrity, innovation, and excellence which are the qualities that define our noble profession.
“As members, you are now part of a vibrant and dynamic community of engineering professionals dedicated to shaping the future of our nation and the world.
“I encourage you to actively participate in our various activities and to network with other colleagues by utilizing every opportunity for professional development and advancement,” she said.
In his remarks, Chairman NSE Abuja branch, Engr. Ben Osy Okoh, urged inductees to engage fully with all that the Society has to offer. Participate in our meetings, join our technical committees, and take advantage of our professional development programs.
Engr. Osy said these platforms are designed to enhance your skills, broaden your perspectives, and provide you with the tools necessary to excel.
“The Nigerian Society of Engineers is not just a network of professionals; it is a family. A family that supports its members, shares knowledge, upholds the highest standards of engineering practice, and is committed to excellence.
“As you receive your induction today, remember that this is both an honor and a call to duty. A duty to contribute your best to the profession and to our country,” He said.
