At the just-concluded 2024 VEX Robotics World Championship in Dallas, Team Nigeria, proudly represented by Glisten International Academy Abuja, Nigeria, received the Sportsmanship award and medals.
This year’s championship featured a diverse array of participants from more than 90 countries, with over 24,000 students, and only 84 qualified teams competing in various categories, of which Nigeria presented three qualified teams from Glisten International Academy.
The Executive Director of the school, Engineer Abba Saidu, who led the team, commends the impressive achievement and improvement of the team in ranking and receiving medals and Sportsmanship Awards.
He enthuses that the school’s directors and management are grateful to the esteemed Parents, the Deputy Senate President, his representative, the Honorable Minister of Information, NITDA, DG TRC, foundations and private companies, Barakete family, the media, and families and friends who believe in the team.
He looks forward to more collaboration and support from relevant stakeholders for future participation in International VEX Robotics competitions.
The National President of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Samira Jibir, PhD, commends the team for their tenacity, Nigerian spirit of showing resilience and confidence in participating on such a wide global stage, and with teams from more technologically advanced countries.
She congratulates the team for not only placing Nigeria on the global stage and flying the national flag in such a huge global event but also for making Nigeria proud with the Sportsmanship Award and medals received.
She reiterates that as the nation continues to make strides in the fields of robotics, innovation, and technological advancement, this achievement serves as a compelling reminder of the boundless potential and opportunities for our youths.
She calls for support from government agencies, the private sector, organizations, and individuals to rise up to the occasion in supporting and sponsoring this program so that Nigeria can have larger participation next year.

Finally, she commends all Nigerians for their support and encouragement in making this tournament a reality, the 2024 VEX Robotics World Championship in Dallas.
