Imo state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Chukwuma- Machukwu Ume (SAN), has said that the All Progressives Congress(APC) convention in Abuja has confirmed the party’s readiness to take over the leadership of the country from the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).

Ume at the party’s convention in Abuja recently said “(APC )had taken up that dream to provide good governance and to ensure that electorates have two viable national parties to choose from.”

“(PDP) 15 years one-party rule and its attendant complacency has denied 95% of Nigerians of the benefits democracy. International communities still eye Nigerian democracy as dwarfed and caged because of the obvious vices in One-Party Rule.”

The Attorney General who was excited on the success of the (APC)’s National convention said it was a process that would enable Nigerians have creditable alternative to free themselves from (PDP) non-performance.

“The kind of governors we have in (APC) are those that are performing. Great reformers like Imo state governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, who had excelled by doing what everybody thought impossible”

According to Ume, “Governor Okorocha had touched positively several sectors. He is providing the people of Imo state with free education from primary to university level. He is also providing for pupils in primary schools and students of secondary schools with uniforms, even as he is known to be the highest minimum wage payer in the country. He is providing rural roads to all communities in the state”.

He said that (APC) is populated with people with excellent performances, adding that the indelible marks the Lagos state governor, Babatunde Fashola, had recorded on developmental projects in Lagos State which people now refer to as magic, are there for every one to see.

The wonderful work Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, Governor Rabiu KwanKwaso of Kano state, Governor Aliyu Wammako of Sokoto state and others are doing in their respective states were signs of greater things to come under (APC) national government.

Ume said that he specifically canvassed for two party system during Justice Uwais’s electoral Reform Committee and not the multifarious mushroom parties that have not won at the centre in the last 15 years.
