The leadership of the National Assembly has joined the Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting presently ongoing in the Council Chamber of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Led by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, the lawmakers were seen being admitted into the meeting venue about 1:38pm.
Sources said the participation of the NASS members in the meeting was impromptu as they were not listed ab initio.
A somewhat curious development, the invitation of the lawmakers may not be unconnected to the current government’s effort to dissuade Nigerians planning a nationwide protest on August 1.
It’s also being suggested that the lawmakers may have been invited to witness the signing of the minimum wage bill into law by President Bola Tinubu, who is presiding over the FEC meeting.
