The Forum of local government Presidents, Tiv Youth Organization, TYO, have lambasted Benue National Assembly Caucus and Federal Appointee forum of being insensitive to their plight.
TYO decried the manner the afore mentioned groups abandoned them and Benue people during the nationwide protest, failing to come home to address the people.
Leader of the forum Vincent Kaior who made this lamentation at a press conference in Makurdi, debunked claims by the National Assembly Caucus and Federal appointees Forum of providing direction and support, referring to a publication, dated 2nd August, 2024 wherein, the sponsors glowingly showered praises on Benue youths for resisting the temptation to join in the ongoing national protest, describing this as wisdom, which has saved the state from chaos and instability.
“We heartily commend the forum for viewing this with sincere eyes and for appreciating us. We feel encouraged to always choose the right path that will ensure peace and enhance development at all times.
“It would have been wonderful had the publication ended there. However, going further, the forum assured us of providing direction and leadership for the youths. Also, it assured us of their support.
“This is where we become very concerned and unhappy based on the indices before us starkly contrasting the above claims.
“To begin with, while preparation for the nationwide protest was in top gear, no member of the said group bothered to come home, address us the youths and enjoin us to shun the protest. If anything, it was the State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia who was dutifully up and doing, putting in great effort which informed our decision to choose peace over protest.”
