Ikechukwu Uche has denied coach Stephen Keshi’s claim that he will only play for Nigeria when he is begged to do so.

The Villarreal striker, who was not considered for a place in the Eagles squad to the recent World Cup in Brazil despite his super form in La Liga, wrote on his twitter page: “It’s an honour to play for Nigeria. I don’t expect to be begged or given special treatment. I’m available when/if considered for selection.”

On Wednesday, Keshi said Uche would have been called up for this weekend’s AFCON qualifier against Congo, but has said he has to be begged before he would play for Nigeria again.
