Shettima directs council chairman to verify abduction of 60 ladies

Borno state governor, Kashim Shettima, yesterday directed the Chairman of Damboa local government council, Al-Amin Mohammed and other government officials from the area to immediately commence investigation to find out the veracity or otherwise of the recent reported abduction of over 60 young ladies Boko Haram insurgents.

Our correspondent reported that communities of Kummabza village, Damboa local government area of the state, alleged that suspected militants had carried out deadly attacks between Thursday and Sunday killing 30 persons and abducted over 60 ladies.

A statement issued by the Special Adviser to Governor Shettima on Communications, Isa Umar Gusau, said his principal was seriously worried by the issue.

“Governor Shettima has read with serious concerns, media reports about yet another abduction in part of Damboa local government area of the state. The governor has since directed the chairman of the affected local government area and other government officials from the affected areas to make very urgent but accurate enquiries from communities and report to him as soon as they can even as security agencies take appropriate actions.

“While the governor views the reported abduction with all the seriousness it deserves, he is also worried that weighty developments such as information concerning the abduction of 60 persons requires careful enquiry in order to obtain information that is comprehensive and beyond any reasonable doubt”, the statement said.
