My community empowerment programmes costs N200m – Nenadi

Sen. Nenadi Usman (PDP-Kaduna South) has said that she had expended N200 million on community projects and empowerment programmes across the eight local government areas in her Senatorial District.

She told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that various projects that touched on the lives of the ordinary people in the district, including women and the youth were executed.

“In 2010 during my campaigns, I promised that if elected, I was going to give the Kaduna South Senatorial District a qualitative, effective and consultative representation at the Senate,” she said.

She said 62 indigenes got employment into various Federal Government agencies, commissions and institutions and that 86 women and youths received training in various vocations.

“The Federal Government, through three of its agencies, lent a helping hand by training 86 women and youths in the following areas: welding, 21; GSM repairs, 10; autotronics ( automobile diagnostic skills), 6 and interior decoration, fashion design, plumbing and others, 52.’’

She explained that the beneficiaries got starter kit such as interior decoration,16; fashion design, 18; hair dressing, 18; welding machines, 18; GSM repair kit, 12; electrical installation, 16; plumbing and fittings tools, 12 and computer sets, 12.

The senator said 45 cooperative societies got N100,000 each as soft loans, adding that the scheme was instituted in Sanga, Kaura, Jaba, Jema’a, Kagarko, Kachia , Zonkwa and Zango Kataf local government areas.

She gave the assurance that the scheme would further be expanded in the scope of beneficiaries and the size of the loan if it would be well managed.

Usman said 512 students of various institutions received N5.12 million as scholarship, adding that 125,000 exercise books had been distributed to the various public primary schools in the senatorial district.
