Korean Cultural Center, Nigeria (KCCN) has thrilled Nigerian audience with the screening of a Korean Classic movie “The Face Reader” used to create awareness for the 60+1st Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival.
Speaking on the event held in Abuja Wednesday, Chidinma Tobins, Administrative Officer of the Korean Cultural Centre, Nigeria (KCCN) the film depicted a common practice that existed during a Korean traditional time.
She said it is tied to a festival in Korea called Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival.
Tobins informed that the festival was a tourist event held annually in Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, which was built to commemorate King Jeongjo’s filial piety and dream of national prosperity and military power.
she stressed that Nigerians expecting to know more about Korean history and culture should not miss the annual Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival as it would show how Korea was back in the days.
Tobins who said the festival would be held between October 4th and 6th said the film “The Face Reader” was screened ahead of time to enable people knew what would happen.
She said the activities that would characterize the event, include traditional music and martial arts performances as well as other activities offering a glimpse of past Korean society centuries ago.
Also speaking, Jane Elo Ossai, winners of 2024 Korea Writing and Speech contests organized by King Sejong Institute Foundation and Korea Cultural Centre, Nigeria she came for the movie screening given her love for Korean culture.
She was full of appreciation for Korean Cultural Centre for putting the event together saying that it would greatly enhance her understanding of Korean way of life.
Seyi Adekoya, who was one of the viewers said she came because of her love for Korean cultural practices.
She said her experience had been fantastic being an influencer for Korean culture and lover Korean activities in Nigeria.
