The Amalgamated Union of Public Corporation, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees, AUPCTRSE Benue State chapter has expressed its readiness to turn around the fortunes of the State Transport outfit, Benue Links.
General Secretary of the Union Comrade Gabriel Tachia disclosed this during an interview with newsmen in Makurdi.
He said that the new administration of Governor Hyacinth Alia has handed over the transport company to the union to manage.
He explained that the immediate past administration of Samuel Ortom had planned to privatize the company but they resisited him vehemently, adding that the matter became a legal issue.
“The Governor wanted to sell the company the way his predecessors sold the cement company in Gboko to Dangote. Now, it is not even functioning but they are lifting the limestone to Obajana in Kogi State for production.
