Date:

History was made on Sunday as Kano Pillars U-19 became the first team to secure a victory in the inaugural U-19 Youth League, defeating their hosts, Legacy Stars FC of Abuja, by a goal to nil. The decisive goal came from Adamu Ibrahim Falcao.
The opening fixture of the campaign was held at the main bowl of the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja, where the Pride of Kano emerged victorious. Falcao proved to be the difference-maker, finding the back of the net in the 21st minute after being set up by Muhammad Usman, putting the Young Sai Masu Gida in control of the match.
The tournament which was organized for players under the age of 19, marks a significant milestone in the history of Nigerian football. It’s the first of its kind, providing a platform for young talents to showcase their skills.
Teams are divided according to regions, with clubs from the Northern part of Nigeria competing in the Northern Conference, while teams from the South play in the Southern Conference in a home-and-away format.
Kano Pillars U-19 will next face AS Roma Academy in Match Day 2 of the inaugural U-19 Youth League, hosting the encounter next weekend.
