Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago has assented to a bill to amend the office of the Auditor- General of the State and the bill to amend the office of the Auditor-General for Local Government.
The two bills were signed into law at the Council chamber of Government House, Minna, Niger state capital.
The Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the State, Barrister Nasir Mu’azu while speaking to journalists explained that the first law modified by deleting the ward “bill” which was repeatedly used as against the
word “law”.
He added that the second law was amended to create subsection seven, to provide certain percentage for the office
of the Auditor-General and other employees of the two offices.
The laws are “A law to Amend the Office of the AuditorGeneral of the State Law 2021 and for connected purposes, 2024 “and”A law to Amend the Office of the Auditor-General for Local Government Law 2021 and for other connected purposes, 2024.
Dr. Helen Adebakin, in her capacity as National President, commenced her address by underscoring the imperative to confront gender bias, a pervasive issue that has plagued our society for an extended period.
She observed that gender bias, with its numerous insidious manifestations, has prevented generations of women and girls from achieving their full potential, thereby denying them opportunities, suppressing their voices, and restricting their liberty.
“But today, as we stand together united in our mission for empowerment and equality, we declare that enough is enough. It is time to restore balance in our society”, she hinted.
