Damian Lewis auditioned for Stephen Mangan’s part in Episodes, Matt LeBlanc has revealed.
The award-winning BBC sitcom, about a British husband-and-wife comedy writing team who travel to Hollywood to remake their successful UK TV series, has been running since 2011, starring Stephen and Tamsin Greig opposite the Friends actor as the American star of their show.
But Matt revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that Homeland star Damian had been in the running to appear in the comedy.
He said: “I remember when we were casting the role of Sean, Steve Mangan’s part, and Damian Lewis came in.
“The part is this very quiet, timid writer, and Damian’s not like that at all. It sounded like two guys about to go out and get into a bar fight. He was like, ‘I don’t think I’m right for this’.”
Episodes is currently airing its third season, and has already been commissioned for a fourth.
