The Director of National Orientation Agency (NOA), FCT Directorate, Mrs. Agbanusi Ijeoma Joy has described Nigerian Anthem as a powerful expression of its history, struggles, and triumphs to be an independent nation.
Agbanusi who made this known in a press conference for “sensitization campaign on the national anthem and national values charter” in Abuja Tuesday said the anthems reminds of the sacrifices made by our forefathers and the dreams we share for a brighter future.
While stressing the need for us to sing it with pride, reverence, so as to promote our unity, Agbanusi informed the press conference was just the forerunner to unveil a new paradigm shift in the annals of nation’s history, as always championed by the National Orientation Agency (NOA).
According to Agbanusi, “NOA is once more taking a positive step to call for renewing the minds of Nigerians in order to collectively build a better society for us all. “NOA is also spearheading this campaign to ensure that all Nigerians from every corner of the country come together under the shared principles outlined in our National Anthem and National Values Charter (NVC).
“Therefore, it gives me joy and a unique sense of responsibility, especially at this moment in the history of our great nation, when we have just marked and celebrated our 64 years of Independence.
“You will agree with me that we have come of age as a country, to boldly sit and champion the unveiling of crucial initiatives that aim to rekindle our national pride and promote national unity among citizens, hence, we are set to flag off our programme tagged: “*Nationwide Sensitization Campaign on National Anthem and National Values Charter*”.
“Obviously, it is high time we shifted our focus to promoting a national value system that guides the behaviour of both our leaders and citizens.
“Today, we gather to reaffirm our commitment to the values that unite us as a nation. Our National Anthem and National Values Charter (NVC) are more than just symbols and rhetorics. They represent our collective identity, aspirations, and principles” she said.
