Ondo AG forecasts victory for APC next Saturday governorship election

By Musa Baba Adamu

Kayode Ajulo (SAN), the Attorney General of Ondo State, said yesterday that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would sweep the governorship poll in the 18 local government areas.
Mr Ajulo, in a statement in Lagos, said the state’s future would be guaranteed if the people reelected Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
The Ondo state governorship election is scheduled for November 16.
In the statement entitled “November 16 is a LUCKY Day”, Mr Ajulo stated that the 2024 Ondo gubernatorial election was already a huge win for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
” The APC, under the steadfast leadership of Aiyedatiwa, is poised to secure a sweeping victory across all 18 local governments- All, this I affirm,” said Mr Ajulo.
He added, “This is not mere optimism but a clear recognition of the collective will of the people who seek continuity, stability, and progress.”
Mr Ajulo, who described himself as an advocate for the state’s progress, said walking the “path of challenge and triumph” taught him the heart of the people and “the essence of what true leadership demands.”
According to Ajulo, the experiences give a clear lens and provide unparalleled insight through which to understand the socio-political landscape of Ondo State.
” I, therefore, approach this moment with deep conviction rather than frivolity. The upcoming Ondo election is not merely a contest, it is a certainty.
“Aiyedatiwa’s leadership has ignited a fire of hope, and together, we will carry this flame forward,” he said.
According to the attorney general, in contrast, the opposition party finds itself in disarray, with its candidate struggling for relevance as past transgressions haunt him.
“The opposition party candidate faces the shadow of apparent disqualification that comes with criminal liabilities, that saw all his party men and women exodus to the APC.
“With members defecting en masse to the APC, it’s evident that the PDP’s foundation has crumbled,” he said.
Mr Ajulo urged sons and daughters of Ondo State to look beyond rhetorics and recognise the stakes at hand by reflecting on Mr Aiyedatiwa.
“This victory will not only belong to the APC but to all who believe in the promise of a better Ondo,” he added.
is is a zone that has suffered tremendously with no federal presence and development, despite what it puts in the table for other to share every month. Rising up now against the South South zone by scrapping the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs is an indication that the government has not learnt from the past.
“We urge the president to please reconsider this decision so as to allow the relative peace and development stride the ministry has achieved in the affected zone. We should not return violence and crisis to the Niger Delta, which has already been arrested through the creation of both the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the ministry of Niger Delta Affairs,” he cautioned.

Amb. Dagogo equally called on the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, as well as other senators and National Assembly members from the South South zone to rise up and protect the Niger Delta Affairs ministry, which he said is the driving force for the development of the region.
