Kaduna State Government has been urged to create gender-responsive budgetary provisions for the implementation of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law in the State
The National Working Group for the implementation of the VAPP Law stated this during a press conference held in Kaduna yesterday.
Speaking on behalf of the group, the Acting Executive Director of Legal Awareness LANW for Nigerian Women, Mrs Hanatu Ahuwan said a cursory look at the just approved Kaduna State 2025 budget with a reflection of the 2024 performance does not show a commitment to addressing the issues of GBV in the State.
According to her, the conference is to address a matter of critical importance — to solicit gender-responsive budgetary provisions for the implementation of the VAPP Law in Kaduna State under the theme ‘Invest in SGBV, increase the budget to end violence against women and girls in Kaduna State.’
