The Kano State Fire Service says it rescued three persons and saved property worth approximately ₦482 million from 30 emergency incidents recorded across the state’s 44 local government areas in June.
The Director of the Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Sani Anas, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Kano.
Anas said that despite the successful rescue efforts, five people lost their lives in separate incidents involving ponds and wells during the period under review. He added that fire outbreaks destroyed property valued at about ₦120 million.
According to him, the service also responded to seven emergency calls and one false alarm reported by residents during the month.
The director urged residents to adhere strictly to fire safety precautions and other preventive measures to reduce the risk of fire outbreaks and related emergencies.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Kano State Fire Service to safeguarding lives and property through prompt emergency response, public awareness, and proactive fire prevention strategies.
