Tears Flow as Uba Sani Donates CNG Buses to Doctors, Lawyers, Journalists, KASU, Correctional Service

Date:

Tears of joy flowed freely in Kaduna on Tuesday as Governor Uba Sani presented brand-new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered buses to key professional bodies and institutions, in a gesture beneficiaries described as historic, unexpected and deeply touching.

The beneficiaries—the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna State University (KASU) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS)—received the vehicles amid loud applause, cheers and emotional expressions of gratitude.

For many of those present, it was more than the handover of buses. It was a recognition of the vital roles played by professionals and institutions that keep society healthy, informed, educated, secure and governed by the rule of law.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Uba Sani said the beneficiary organisations remain indispensable partners in the development of Kaduna State.

He noted that doctors save lives and strengthen the healthcare system, lawyers defend justice and constitutional order, journalists serve as the eyes and ears of society, correctional officers contribute to security and rehabilitation, while Kaduna State University continues to shape the next generation of leaders and professionals.

The governor explained that the CNG buses were provided to improve mobility, enhance efficiency and support the daily operations of the organisations.

“We recognize your contributions to the growth and stability of our state. Government cannot succeed alone. We must continue to work together to build a more prosperous Kaduna,” he said.

The donation further reinforces the administration’s commitment to promoting cleaner and more affordable transportation through the adoption of CNG technology, while also strengthening partnerships with critical institutions across the state.

One after another, representatives of the beneficiary organisations took the microphone to express appreciation to the governor, describing the intervention as a practical demonstration of responsive leadership.

Officials of the Nigerian Medical Association said the vehicle would support medical outreach programmes and other professional activities.

The Nigerian Bar Association’s Kaduna Chapter Chairman – Baba Lawal – commended the governor’s commitment to strengthening institutions, while the Nigerian Union of Journalists Chairman AbdulGafar Alabelewe described the gesture as evidence that the media remains a valued stakeholder in governance.

Kaduna State University Vice Chancellor – Ibrahim Musa – noted that the bus would support academic and administrative engagements, while representatives of the Nigerian Correctional Service said the vehicle would improve operational effectiveness.

The high point of the ceremony came as beneficiaries inspected the gleaming buses, posed for photographs and exchanged embraces, with many visibly moved by the gesture.

Also speaking on the sidelines of the event, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Malam Sani Liman Kila said the event reflected Senator Uba Sani’s growing reputation for engaging professional groups and institutions as partners in governance rather than mere spectators.

As the ceremony drew to a close, the atmosphere remained charged with excitement and gratitude from the beneficiaries and stakeholders, Secretary to the State Government- Dr. Abdulkadir Mayare.

On his part, the Commissioner of Justice, Mr. James Kanyip noted thus: “For the doctors healing the sick, the lawyers defending justice, the journalists informing the public, the lecturers shaping minds and the correctional officers safeguarding society, the buses represented more than transportation.”

According to Sule Shuaibu ( SAN) the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home affairs, “His Excellency’s gesture of recognition is about vital partnership and a renewed commitment to building a stronger Kaduna together.”
