Enugu – The main bowl of Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, ‘The Cathedral’ was a beehive of activities, Monday, January 13, 2025, as the reigning NPFL champions, Rangers International F.C commenced preparations in full gear for the second stanza of the 2024/2025 season.
Under the guide of chief coach, Ekeh Ekenedilichukwu, and other members of the technical crew, the players on ground went through many drills to help them shape up for the task ahead with the G.M/CEO of Rangers, Amobi Ezeaku Esq., charging the players to bring their ‘A’ game to the table as they pursue one of the club’s target for the season.
In his welcome address, the CEO congratulated all returning players, coaches, and backroom staff for their safe return after nearly two weeks break, while calling on all to get united for the task at hand.
“Let me thank you all for the efforts put into our first round performance and also congratulate all of us for crossing over into the New Year, 2025. We understand what is at stake, especially in the second stanza of the league that will commence later this month and it is my belief that the break was worth it and you are refreshed for the task before us. I charge all of us to be united in our pursuit of a successful title defense. Let nothing weigh you down. With the strong support from Enugu state government under H.E, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, our partners, Afrinvest, Nortra, F.C Schaffhausen, and others too numerous to mention, your welfare is taken care off. So, go into every match as if you are playing a cup final,” stated the young club boss.
Barrister Ezeaku assured supporters of the club that the absence of the quartet of Ifeanyi Onyebuchi, Kazeem Ogunleye, Isaac Saviour, and Effimi Nsi as well as the club’s technical adviser, coach Fidelis Ilechukwu who are on national duty with the Super Eagles ‘B’ team that will be flying the flag of the country at the TotalEnergies CAF CHAN 2024 in three East African nations, won’t be felt as there are quality players in the squad.
Rangers ended the first stanza on the 4th spot of the twenty team log with thirty-one points scoring eighteen goals and conceding eleven with Godwin Obaje and Isaac Saviour leading the goals scorers chats with three goals apiece and will be commencing the second stanza with a home match against Niger Tornadoes F.C of Minna in a match day 20 fixture.
