Barely four days after the devasted tanker fire explosion from an accident trailer truck carrying petroleum products that killed over one hundred people scooping petrol at Dikko in Gurara local government of Niger state, another tanker trailer was involved in an accident in Bida Yeso area, project quarters opposite AYA Shafa filling station in Bida local government area of Niger state.
The incident occurred on Monday around 7 o’clock in the evening, involving a vehicle that was said to be carrying groundnut oil from Southern part of the country going towards Abuja.
Several residents of Bida consisting of youths and women scrambled to scoop oil despite security operatives trying to contain the situation in order to protect the property and lives of the citizens.
An eyewitness informed that the accident happened in a highly populated area of Bida town while he lamented over the consequences of scooping oil from accident tanker trailers that is still fresh in the minds of the people in the state.
The cause of the accident is still sketchy at the time of filing the report, just as the FRSC and Niger state police command are yet to issue official statement on the development but our reporter reliably gathered that fire service personnel were standing by at the scene to ensure safety.
