LEAD-P program: FCTA to train 100 officers annually

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is set to train a minimum of 100 officers particularly those in grades level 10 to 14 every year, thereby cultivating a new generation of leaders who are equipped not only with the requisite knowledge and skills but also with resilience, adaptability, and a strong commitment to its shared vision of public service excellence.

Making this disclosure, FCTA’s Head of the Civil Service, Mrs. Grace Adayilo, explained that it is  in furtherance to the ongoing commitment to enhancing sustainable  leadership capacities within the administration, for effective service delivery.

Adayilo, who delivered a keynote address at the opening ceremony of the 1st Cohort of the FCT LEAD-P program held Friday, in Abuja,  thanked the  FCT Minister, Bar Ezenwo Nyesom Wike for his express approval of the program.

According to her, the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP) has outlined path forward, identifying the need for targeted training and capacity building among its professionals.

She noted that the FCT Staff’s hope has indeed been renewed by the Minister for FCT, whose vision and dedication continue to shape a brighter future for the FCT Administration.

“The establishment of the FCT LEAD-P Program is a crucial step toward ensuring we have a pool of highly skilled and capable leaders ready to take on the challenges of governing our vibrant capital territory.

“This program is designed as an annual process, ensuring that dedicated civil servants who are committed to their growth and professional development will always have a chance to benefit.

“From establishing a solid foundation for effective succession planning to fostering a culture of self-development, each element is designed with intentionality to enrich the civil service landscape

“The FCT Administration is committed to the sustainability and continuous progress of this initiative, and we will ensure it remains an integral part of our leadership development strategy”, Adayilo stressed.

Ealier in his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Common Services, Mr . Babatunde Rotimi Ajayi said:  “Each successful cohort of this program will be regarded as the Elite crop of civil servants, distinguished by the depth of knowledge and expertise they have acquired.

“It is our expectation that you will become ambassadors of excellence, driving positive change and fostering result-oriented civil service.”

On her part, the Director, FCTA Reform Coordination And Service Improvement Department, Dr. Jummai Ahmadu said LEAD- P is strategically designed to attract, recruit, and nurture 100 selected staff for comprehensive training for the next 7 months.

Ahmadu said: “LEAD-P is regarded as a pivotal element for the future of public service, with its guidelines informed by the FCSSIP of 2025 and the policies governing Leadership Management and Succession Planning in the Civil Service.

“The primary goal of FCT-LEAD-P is to cultivate the next generation of leadership within the Federal Capital Territory Administration via an enhanced capacity-building program.”
