APC government lacks empathy, we will sack them in 2027 – Tambuwal

Former governor of Sokoto state, Sen. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has described the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as lacking in empathy and the ability to pull the country out of its problems.

Tambuwal equally downplayed the recent wave of defections in parts of the country, especially in the North West, attributing them to personal interests rather than the welfare of the people.

Speaking with newsmen after the inaugural Zonal Executive Council Meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Northwest in Kaduna on Saturday,
Tambuwal took a swipe at politicians defecting to the APC, insisting that their decisions are driven by self-interest devoid of national interest.

“People switch parties for various reasons, but what I’ve observed is that these defections are not about the people’s interest—they’re about personal gains, what I call ‘stomach infrastructure,” he stated.

The former Speaker of the House of Repreentatives further condemned the APC-led federal government, accusing it of lacking in vision, empathy, and direction.

According to him, any politician with a conscience would not align with the APC, given the prevailing economic hardship and the perceived shortcomings of the Tinubu administration.

Tambuwal urged opposition stakeholders to unite and strategize ahead of the 2027 elections, insisting that there is the need to offer Nigerians a viable and credible alternative.

“There’s nothing attractive about the APC beyond personal benefits. Those of us committed to this country and true public service must come together to ensure that by 2027, we remove this administration that has failed Nigerians,” he added.

Meanwhile, the PDP Northwest in a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting and read by the Northwest Chairman, Sen. Bello Hayatu Gwarzo, reinforced the party’s resolve to regain national leadership.

He stressed the importance of unity and strategic mobilization by all genuine lovers of the country.
