The House of Representatives has scheduled a public hearing on four major tax reform bills for Wednesday, February 28, 2025, following their passage for a second reading.

Announcing the decision during Tuesday’s plenary, Speaker Abbas Tajudeen said the House had constituted a special 36-member committee to oversee the hearing, given the critical nature of the bills.

Ordinarily, the public hearing would have been handled by the House Committee on Finance, but the Speaker explained that a broader committee was necessary to ensure extensive deliberations.

The committee will be chaired by James Abiodun Faleke, the Chairman of the House Committee on Finance, with his deputy serving as the committee’s deputy chairman.
