The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has deployed a technical team to the crash site of a Nigerian Air Force ATR-42 aircraft near Igbokoda, Ondo State, to support ongoing search and recovery operations.
NEMA Director-General, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, said she has activated the agency’s Director of Search and Rescue, Air Commodore Bature Usman, to lead the team. The deployment supplements NEMA personnel already working at the site with other responders.
This was signed and issued in a statement disclosed by NEMA Press Unit .
Mrs. Umar expressed deep sadness over the crash and extended her condolences to the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, the Nigerian Air Force family and the families of those affected.
She described the incident as deeply painful, noting the invaluable sacrifices of Nigerian Air Force personnel in the service and defence of the nation.
She commended the prompt activation of search and rescue operations and reaffirmed NEMA’s commitment to providing coordination and operational support.
She prayed for the repose of those who died, comfort for their families and the speedy recovery of any injured persons.
