Fulani leaders in Nasarawa State have pledged their full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The delegation, comprising Fulani traditional rulers, women leaders and support groups, declared their backing during a solidarity visit to Governor Abdullahi Sule at the Government House in Lafia.
Led by Ardo Akajo Abubakar Gyara, Chairman of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore in Nasarawa State, the community commended Governor Sule’s administration for its key interventions.
According to him, these include the appointment of seven Fulani members to government positions, the establishment of the Ministry for Livestock Production, and support for educational initiatives such as the nomadic boarding school in Sabon Gida.
Gyara, however, requested additional political appointments and recruitment opportunities for qualified members of the pastoralist community, submitting the résumés of six university graduates and two diploma holders. He also advocated the expansion of nomadic boarding schools to other parts of the state.
Declaring the community’s political direction, Gyara said Fulani voters in Nasarawa State would support Wadada, the APC governorship candidate, and vote for all the party’s candidates from top to bottom in 2027.
He expressed gratitude to Governor Sule for providing the community with an operational vehicle to assist with door-to-door campaign mobilisation.
Supporting the declaration, Ardo Usman Damau praised Governor Sule’s support for Wadada, describing the senator as a representative of the Keffi Zone, while reaffirming the community’s backing for President Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Kande Adamu, the Fulani women’s leader, highlighted the improvement in security across rural areas.
She noted that structured cooperation among pastoralist youths, security agencies and state authorities had drastically reduced previous conflicts involving cattle traders and farming communities.
Responding, Governor Abdullahi Sule commended the delegation and reiterated his administration’s commitment to sustaining peaceful relations between farmers and pastoralists.
Governor Sule promised to evaluate the community’s candidates for employment in the state’s upcoming recruitment drive for more than 1,500 teachers, while urging all stakeholders to maintain synergy with security agencies to sustain lasting peace in Nasarawa State.
