The Gumel local government council chairman Alhaji Lawan Ya’u has commended Jigawa State Environmental Agency (JISEPA) and United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) for organising Waste to Wealth training in Gumel.

The chairman made the commendation during the two days training of 160 young women on Waste to Wealth at Gumel Emirate foundation in Gumel.

According to him, the training will promote environmental sustainability, promote job opportunities and empower women to stand self reliance, adding that  the effort is inline with governor Malam Umar Namadi’s twelve points agenda.

“I’m always ready to collaborate with any partners who are ready to boost the skills and generate job opportunities for our teeming youths in Gumel”, he said.

While making his remarks, the managing director Jigawa State Environmental Agency (JISEPA) Sanitarian Adamu Sabo  the training aimed at equipping women with skills to lead environmental conservation efforts in their communities.

He explained that the workshop focused on recycling waste into useful products that can be sold in local markets within and outside the state.

Sabo encouraged the women to take the training seriously, emphasizing its potential to improve their economic well-being.

He then assured the women that their products would be marketed locally, to provide them with a source of income.
