Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, said his administration is committed to fostering public-private sector collaboration to drive economic development in the state.

Speaking at the 4th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Yobe Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (YOCCIMA) on Sunday, highlighted the state’s abundant resources and pledged to explore opportunities that would revitalize the local economy.

Governor Buni, represented by the Yobe Commissioner, Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Tourism, and Solid Minerals, Alh. Kaigama Umar, and commended the Chamber’s newly elected executive members for their dedication to promoting trade, commerce, and investment.

He underscored the importance of a vibrant and democratic executive council in achieving YOCCIMA’s goals and fostering collaboration with key stakeholders.

He said, “Revitalizing the economy towards sustainable growth requires active private sector participation, which is the engine of economic development.”

Gov. Buni also emphasized that, the state alignment with the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business reforms, which led to the creation of the State Action on Business Enabling Reform (SABER) and the enactment of the Yobe Public-Private Partnership and Investment Promotion Law.

The meeting held at the Summit Conference Hall, to marked of 21 new executive members’ election to lead the Chamber for a two-year term.

Musa Aji Suleiman emerged as the new President of YOCCIMA, pledging to run an inclusive and transparent administration based on unity, fairness, and equal opportunities.

In his address, Suleiman assured members and the business community of the Chamber’s commitment to partnering with all tiers of government and providing strategic advice on policies aimed at enhancing growth and development.

The Governor also lauded the electoral committee for organizing a smooth election process and praised the outgoing executives for their contributions.
