The Societal Safety Network (SSN) has condemned a recent protest against the Chairperson of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Dr Muheeba Dankaka and her 2nd term bid .
In a statement, the Director, Public Relations
Societal Safety Network (SSN), Comr. Suleiman Salaudeen explained that is clear that the so-called protest was not a genuine grievance but a politically motivated charade — a desperate scheme by power-hungry elements and ambitious individuals jostling for her position.
According to him , Dr Dankaka’s stewardship at the helm of the FCC represents one of the most reform-driven and transparent eras in the history of the Commission.
He said that her tenure has been marked by uncommon courage, sweeping reforms, and a zero-tolerance approach to administrative rascality and internal racketeering that had, for years, plagued the Commission.
Salaudeen stated that under her leadership, several entrenched malpractices — notably the sale of job slots, contract scams, and internal trading of placement opportunities — were dismantled.
He added that this feat earned her both national recognition and expected resistance from those whose fraudulent privileges were disrupted.
“Dr. Dankaka has restored dignity, order, and credibility to a once-controversial Commission. Her achievements include: “Institutional Reforms: Introduction of merit-based placement and transparency-driven procedures in federal character implementation, Digitalization of FCC Processes: Pioneered the migration from analog to digital monitoring and documentation of recruitment and deployment across MDAs.
“Restoration of Public Trust: Rebranded the image of the FCC and elevated public confidence in its mandate, Accountability: Sanctioned corrupt officers and sanitized the system of internal racketeering networks, Equity and Fairness: Ensured true representation of all federating units in recruitment exercises devoid of political, ethnic, or gender bias,” he noted.
The Group stressed that what transpired in the name of protest is nothing more than the cry of rejected elements — the reaction of displaced cartel members within the system whose corrupt enterprise has been blocked by a woman who refused to bend.
The group called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to remain unwavering in his commitment to rewarding sincerity, merit, and dedication to public service.
He emphasized that Dr. Dankaka’s reappointment will be more than a personal reward, noting that it will serve as a national statement that good people still matter, and that resilient women in power will be protected and appreciated, not punished for doing what is right.
“Dr. Muheeba Dankaka is not a product of political sponsorship. She is a woman of impeccable character, who has chosen the hard path of truth over the easy path of compromise. Her time as FCC Chairperson remains a turning point in the history of the Commission — a woman who straightened the bend and revived an institution drifting toward irrelevance.
“The Societal Safety Network stands firmly behind her, and we urge all patriotic Nigerians — especially women, youth, and public servants — to resist the antics of desperate actors seeking to drag the FCC backward.
“Let us protect our reformers. Let us defend the progress we have made. And above all, let us not turn our backs on the very women we encourage to lead.
