Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, has called on citizens to embrace unity, peace, and shared values, noting that the coincidence of the Easter and Ramadan observances offers a powerful lesson in interfaith harmony.

In his 2026 Easter message, the governor described the convergence of the Christian Lenten season and the Muslim holy month of Ramadan as “meaningful and instructive,” stressing that it highlights the enduring values that bind people of different faiths together.

He noted that while Christians commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ—symbolising sacrifice, redemption, and hope—Muslims observe Ramadan through fasting, prayer, and acts of charity, culminating in the celebration of Eid al-Fitr.

According to him, the overlap of both sacred seasons underscores a shared commitment to devotion, discipline, compassion, and responsibility to one another—values that should guide social relations and governance.

“Across our different faiths, we are united by enduring values: devotion to God, discipline, compassion, and a shared responsibility to uplift one another,” the governor stated.

Governor Sani urged residents of Kaduna State to draw inspiration from the season and rise above division, stressing that peace, reconciliation, and mutual respect are essential for sustainable development.

He emphasized that Kaduna’s diversity should be seen as a source of strength rather than division, calling on citizens to foster understanding and build trust across religious and ethnic lines.

Highlighting government efforts, the governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to initiatives that promote spiritual growth and inclusiveness. He referenced the restoration of Christian pilgrimage after more than a decade, noting that 50 pilgrims from the state recently undertook a spiritual journey to Jordan and Israel during the Lenten period.

Governor Sani expressed gratitude to God for the safe return of the pilgrims, describing their conduct as exemplary and a reflection of the moral values that guide Kaduna’s people.

He added that his administration will continue to promote policies that strengthen ethical values, social harmony, and inclusive development, particularly in education, healthcare, and economic empowerment.

The governor also urged citizens to approach civic responsibilities with restraint, wisdom, and a commitment to the common good, warning against divisive tendencies that could undermine peace and progress.

“As we look ahead, let us embrace the deeper meaning of Easter—not only in celebration, but in renewed dedication to lives of integrity, compassion, and service,” he said.

Governor Sani concluded by wishing the people of Kaduna State and Nigerians a blessed and reflective Easter, praying that the season’s message of hope and renewal inspires unity and prosperity across the country.
