The Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation is set to present innovative solutions for improving primary healthcare across Africa at the upcoming Africa Primary Healthcare Forum.
The forum, hosted by the West African Institute of Public Health (WAIPH), will take place in Abuja on July 14 and 15, 2025.
Health leaders and stakeholders from across the continent are expected to attend the event, aimed at addressing Africa’s ongoing primary healthcare challenges.
As a faculty partner, the Foundation will lead a key plenary session focusing on public-private partnerships (PPPs) as a strategy for building sustainable health systems.
The session will examine how collaboration between governments and private organisations can help close critical gaps in healthcare delivery.
The Foundation brings experience from its Adopt-A-Healthcare Facility Programme, launched with the Private Sector Health Alliance of Nigeria.
Through this initiative, ₦3 billion has been invested in upgrading 23 primary healthcare centres across Nigeria.
Four of the centres are fully revitalised and already showing significant improvements in service delivery.
Immunisation numbers in the upgraded centres have soared from 35 to 687 within just eight months.
Over 500 children under five have been treated for malaria, tackling a key cause of infant mortality in the region.
Antenatal attendance increased by 1,200%, ensuring better care for pregnant women.
Crucially, no maternal or child deaths have been recorded at the revitalised centres so far.
Ofovwe Aig-Imoukhuede, Executive Vice-Chair of the Foundation, said bold thinking and innovative financing are essential to transform healthcare systems.
She stressed that carefully structured PPPs can help create resilient, accessible healthcare services.
The Foundation hopes its participation in the forum will inspire more collaboration and investment across Africa’s health sector.
