No tension in Shasha kingdom – Residents

Date:

From Matthew Aramunde-Lagos

Apparently reacting to a report by a Lagos-based newspaper that there is tension in Shasha Kingdom as result of the alleged removal of the paramount ruler, Oba Babatunde Ogunronbi (Akinlowo 1) by a Federal High Court, sitting in Lagos, the residents have unanimously debunked the report.

Describing the report as an embodiment of falsehood, whimsical in content and regretful, Comrade Ola, who claimed to have lived all his life in the community, in a chat with our correspondent said he is piqued by the actions and inaction of some members of the fourth estate of the realm who often times allow themselves to be misled  by some misguided and disgruntled elements in the society that usually feed them with  lies.

“This reporter never visited our community to verify the information fed him and so I am at a loss as to where he got the story of any tension”.

The Bale of Orisunbare quarters of Shasha Kingdom, Chief Akeeb  Raufu, in his reaction noted that the community houses one of the very vital arm of the Nigeria Air Force, the Electronic Ordinance Depot (EOD),a Divisional Police Station and scores of security agencies. He wondered if there were to be security challenges in the manner of any tension as purportedly reported, these agencies would have by now make statement s that would give vent to such allusions.

Malam Adamu Shehu, who is a kola nut merchant and has lived in Shasha for two decades and who spoke through an interpreter, submitted that he has not noticed any form of activities either by the youths or elders in the community that points to the fact that tension is in the area.

When our correspondent visited the Palace of the Oba, he was seen attending to scores of his subjects who milled around him; he, however, declined to make comments on the purported report.
