Stories from Umar Dankano, Yola

In a clear show of commitment to maternal and child health, the First Lady of Adamawa State, Hajiya Lami Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, reiterated the advocacy for  exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months, and continued breastfeeding beyond infancy.

She made this point when she led the commemoration of World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) 2025, themed “Prioritize Breastfeeding: Create Sustainable Support Systems”, in the state.

It was observed that during a high-impact visit to a Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Jambutu, the First Lady engaged directly with expectant and nursing mothers, counseling them on early initiation of breastfeeding within the first hour of birth.

She also offered words of encouragement and vital support to new mothers, reinforcing the state’s commitment to reducing maternal and child mortality.

A highlight of the event was the official launch of safe delivery kits (Mama Kits) across the state.
