Dangote Refinery Slashes Diesel Price to ₦960 Per Litre

By Abubakar Yunusa

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a further reduction in the ex-depot price of diesel, cutting it from ₦990 to ₦960 per litre with immediate effect.

The ₦30 price cut, confirmed by the refinery’s spokesperson, Anthony Chiejina, represents another step in Dangote’s efforts to ease economic pressures on businesses and consumers.

Since commencing diesel production in January 2024, the refinery has consistently lowered prices from an initial ₦1,700 per litre to as low as ₦940 in April 2024 for bulk buyers.

Analysts say the latest reduction reinforces the refinery’s role in stabilising the local fuel market by offering competitive pricing that challenges importers, improves supply, and helps drive down operating costs across industries.

Dangote Group stressed that the price adjustment aligns with its broader commitment to support Nigeria’s economic recovery.

“Lower diesel prices are expected to ease transportation and production costs, potentially helping to curb inflation.”

The refinery also urged petroleum marketers to ensure that the benefits are passed on to end-users, in line with its goal of promoting affordability and energy security across the country.
