The traditional head (Sarkin Zango) of the Dei-dei international livestock market, in Bwari area council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Alhaji Sada Kusada, has called on the FCT minister, senator Bala Mohammed to repair dilapidated roads in the area, so as to enable buyers have access to the market.
He urged the minister to also in the interest of traders, repair the dilapidated culverts in the market, so as to prevent erosion from washing away the market.
Kusada, who made the call in an interview with Peoples Daily at the weekend, in Dei-dei, also urged the minister to provide a transformer in the market, in order to boost socio-economic activities in the market.
He further appealed to the authorities of the FCT Agriculture Secretariat to deem it necessary to stop people trading on the roadside to move inside the livestock market, to enable the FCT Administration generates more revenue.
He however assured that his leadership would continue to support and co-operate with the FCT Administration for the overall development of the market, while advising the traders to always loyal to the constituted authority.
Commenting on the security situation in the FCT and the country at large, Sarkin Zango expressed dismay over rate at which armed robbers were stealing cows from the Fulani herdsmen, pleading with government to place more emphasis on the security of the citizens and property.
On his part, the chairman of the International Livestock Dealers Association, Dei-Dei, Mallam Tasiu Mohammed, urged the FCT Administration to build police station in the market, to guarantee the lives and property of people in the market.
He also requested the FCT Administration to ensure the building a bank in the market, so as to enable the traders to keep their money there for daily transactions.
Not left out, one of the elders in the market, Mallam Musa Saidu, called for the fencing of the livestock market for the sake of fortifying security in and around the market.
