The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has condemned the alleged sabotage attempts against the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Lagos.
This was contained in a statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the Forum
Prof. T. A. Muhammad-Baba and made available to the media in Kaduna yesterday.
The Forum expressed concern over the various challenges facing the refinery, including logistical issues, regulatory matters, crude oil supply problems, and labor disputes.
According to the ACF, these challenges are orchestrated by “entrenched subterranean interests” seeking to maintain their grip on the oil sector and national economy.
ACF supports the refinery’s decision to seek legal protection against attempts to disrupt its operations.
The Forum also questioned the forceful nature of demands for workers to join the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), citing constitutional provisions that allow individuals to choose their union affiliation.
ACF recommends that the Federal Government declare strategic facilities, such as the Dangote Refinery, as national security assets worthy of protection.
ACF urged the Federal Government to resolve the impasse between the refinery management and PENGASSAN and sanction the union for refusing to comply with a court order against disrupting the refinery’s operations.
