Lukaku wants Everton stay

Date:

Power-playing Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku is set to join Premier League side Everton on a permanent deal from current club Chelsea. Lukaku, who spent last season on loan at the Toffees, is widely reported to be on his way out of Stamford Bridge, having posted a picture on his Twitter account of him inside a plane with the caption: “Time to write a new chapter”. English publication the Daily Mail reveal the 21-year-old will sign a five-year deal at Goodison Park worth £75,000-a-week with the Daily Star reporting that a deal worth £28.5 million has been agreed which is a club record fee for Everton.

A move away from the Bridge had been looming for the talented youngster with the arrivals of Diego Costa and Didier Drogba, joining Fernando Torres as the three strikers for the Blues this season. An exit from the London club was further fuelled by reports on Wednesday that Chelsea had not yet issued the striker with a squad number for their upcoming campaign. Lukaku, who joined Chelsea in 2011, had never quite made the cut for the Blues, enduring loan spells at West Bromwich and Everton, scoring 15 goals in 31 appearances under Roberto Martinez last season. In total, Lukaku has scored 32 goals on loan in the Premier League more than any other player in the history of the competition.
