Girls’ Education Summit celebrates resilience, potential of girls

The Center for Girls Education in Zaria, Kaduna State has organized its inaugural Girls’ Education Summit to commemorate the International Day of the Girl Child.
The summit aims to honor the resilience, courage, and potential of girls around the world.
Hajiya Habiba Mohammed, the Director of the Center, emphasized that the summit was designed to recognize the challenges girls face and to celebrate those who refuse to be defined by their circumstances.
She pointed out that girls often encounter disproportionate challenges that can lead to dropping out of school, early marriage, or vulnerability to exploitation. Hajiya Habiba stressed that every girl, regardless of her background, deserves the opportunity to learn, dream, and thrive.
The Center believes that when girls are educated and empowered, they not only lift themselves but also uplift others as they do.
The Center’s programs for girls and young women focus on empowering them with knowledge, skills, voice, agency, and confidence to lead their communities toward a brighter future.
Through the Girls’ Education Summit, the Center celebrates the power and promise of girls and affirms their rights to education, health, and economic opportunity.
The summit brought together girls from various projects implemented by the Center to discuss progress, challenges, and strategies for advancing girls’ education.
The participants advocated for 12 years of free, safe, quality, and compulsory education, as well as the integration of life skills into regular school curricula.
