To meet Directors by 1:30pm

The new Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Joash Ojo Amupitan will formally assume duty at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja tomorrow (Thursday).
Upon his assumption of office, Amupitan will hold an inaugural meeting with all the Directors of INEC.
The time for the meeting is 1:30pm.
The meeting was confirmed in a statement on Wednesday by the Commission’s Deputy Director (Publicity), Wilfred Ifogah in Abuja.
The statement reads, ‘The Honorable Chairman of the Commission, Professor Joash Amupitan will be meeting with Directors as follows; Date: Thursday 24th October, 2025.Time: 1:30pm. Venue: Conference Hall, INEC Headquarters, Abuja
“In view of the above, members of the INEC Press Corps are invited to cover the opening ceremony of the event”, the brief statement concluded.
One of the main national assignments that Amupitan is expected to perform is conduct of the Anambra governorship election which has been scheduled to hold on Saturday, November 8, this year.
The most senior National Commissioner in INEC, Mrs May Agbamuche-Mbu has been holding forth as the acting National Chairman of the commission since Prof Mahmood Yakubu bowed out of INEC after serving out two terms of ten years.
