The newly appointed Commissioner for Business, Trade and Investment in Edo State, Honourable Omoh Anabor, has urged management staff of the ministry to think outside the box in order to effectively deliver on the vision of the state government.
Speaking during his maiden meeting with management staff of the Ministry in Benin City, the Commissioner emphasized that the administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo is determined to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of Edo State.
Honourable Anabor, who said he was coming from the private sector with vast global experience, pledged to deploy his expertise to drive innovation and efficiency in the ministry.
“I want to work with everyone. We must eliminate bottlenecks, work smarter and faster,” he said, urging staff to generate ideas that would promote the SHINE Agenda of the Okpebholo-led administration.
“It’s not about me; it’s about the SHINE Agenda of His Excellency. We must be visible, we must do better. Meetings will be held regularly to identify gaps and improve performance,” he added.
He pointed out that part of the ministry’s mandate is to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, support and train Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and collaborate with other ministries to attract investors to Edo State.
Honourable Anabor also stressed the need to create an enabling environment for youths to engage meaningfully in business. According to him, when young people are productively engaged, they will have no reason to resort to social vices such as internet fraud.
“This ministry is the business hub of the government, and we must play our part in empowering our youths to become innovative entrepreneurs,” he said.
“There are smarter ways of doing business, and we must embrace them to position Edo State as a destination for investment and enterprise,” the Commissioner concluded.
The Permanent Secretary, Barr. (Mrs) F. N. Edokpolor and other management staff were present at the meeting.
