SWI took hygiene campaign to Paris Africana Intl’ sch

A Non Governmental Organization (NGO), Save Womanhood International (SWI) recently embarked on menstrual hygiene campaign to Parish Africana International School, Mararaba, Nasarawa state.

The NGO’s founder’s visit to the school was part of activities to commemorate this year’s International Day of Girls Child.

Speaking while distributing sanitary pads to adolescent girls in the school, founder of SWI, Dr. Vanessa Ihegbu harped on the importance of menstrual hygiene.

She said that promoting menstrual health and hygiene among adolescent girls can help them stay in school to learn and engage in school activities comfortably.

She said menstrual hygiene can reduce the risk of infections and other ralated illnesses associated with mesntratio and empower girls to take control of their reproductive health.

She said SWI has created a supportive environment where all adolescent school girls can thrive.

Speaking further, she urged schools to provide comprehensive health education and access to sanitary pads.

She added that schools should also provide comprehensive health education on menstrual health and hygiene.

During an interactive session, the students expressed eagerness to learn more about menstrual hygiene and the implications of using toilet papers in place of sanitary towels during their monthly flow.

On her part, the Vice Principal of the school, Miss Elizabeth, who received the team, thanked them for finding the school worthy of benefiting from the items shared among senior students and their female teachers.
Responding to the call by the founder of SWI on the need for the school to make provision for sanitary towels at its dispensary for emergency, she said the school has put that in place ensuring that every female student in need of sanitary towel during school hours is attended to.
