‘SURE-P has provided employment for 50,000 graduates’

SURE-P Graduate Internship Scheme (GIS) Head of Operations, Mr Akubo Adegbe yesterday said the scheme has so far provided job opportunities to  a total of 50,000 youths across the country.

According to him, the interns are placed in a reputable private and Public organizations to work and learn skills relevant to their aspirations for 12 months.

Speaking at Orientation Training for Employers and Interns organized by Federal Ministry of Finance in collaboration with GIS held in the state,   Mr Akubo said each of the interns is paid 30,000 naira monthly.

“GIS training scheme has so far provides job for 50,000 graduates with quality jobs. We placed the graduates for a 1 year work for organizations to improve their employability skills and give them a source of livelihood,” he said.

He said Federal Government established the scheme on the need to resolved the unemployment problem in the country.

“Government introduced many programmes to address the issue of unemployment in the country among which is the GIS scheme. We are into partnership with some state governments on job creations,” he said.

 The Head of Operations further added that GIS recently signed MOU with Kaduna State to train 2,000 graduates in the state.

He further urged the internship to kindly take the opportunity provided to them seriously so as to add value to their lives.
