Forgery: 50 teachers axed over fake certificates

Date:

By Ojerinde Olanrewaju with agency report

Shocker as the axe has fallen on fifty school teachers in Abaji area council for allegedly possessing fake certificates.

Their sack followed a routine screening exercise for teachers in council, which discovered they had fake certificates, according to Abuja Digest, the weekly publication of the FCT administration.

Secretary of the council’s Local Education Authority (LEA), Alhaji Hassan Suleiman, accompanied by the council chairman, Alhaji Yahaya Garba Gawu, made this disclosure when he visited  the Ona of Abaji and chairman of the FCT council of chiefs, Alhaji Adamu Baba.

Suleiman said the 50 were part of the 170 teachers screened even as he was stunned at why anyone would engage in forgery to get any job rather than work hard at their books and acquire credible certificate.

On his part, Gawu, said it was upsetting to know there is a seemingly increase in certificate forgery by some persons desperate to succeed.

“Today, the issue of going to buy certificate has become big business. “We will come down hard on desperate persons involved in this dastardly person involved in this dastardly act as the system won’t

harbour such elements,” he stressed.
