Date:

From Yakubu Mustapha, Minna

Niger state Governor, Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu, has said that he has no anointed candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship ticket in 2015 even as he also disclosed that he has not thrown his weight behind any of the aspirants for the senatorial by election for Niger East senatorial district of the state.

Aliyu , who made the declaration in Minna yesterday at the unveiling of new Certificate of Occupancy C of O for the state, also declared that he has not told anyone that he would contest the senatorial election for Niger East in 2015.

The governor also stated that he had to make the clarification because some politicians have been going round dropping his name that he has endorsed them as the candidate for the two elections.

“I have not told anybody to run for election in 2015, anybody that wants to run can run at the end of the day the party will support anyone that wins”

“My support for any aspirant now will create crisis in the party now, we should leave everything to Allah”.

Aliyu said unlike what is being insinuated in the political circle, he has not ‘arranged’ with anybody to contest the senatorial election and hold forte for him until 2015 when he will be eligible to contest, “who knows who will live till next year” he added.

While assuring PDP members of level playing field for both elections, Aliyu said at the appropriate time, he will join the campaign for the election of the candidate chosen by the party.

The governor therefore urged the people to ‘come out and vote’ during the forthcoming senatorial bye-election so that the state can have good representation at the National Assembly.

Aliyu thanked the people of the state for the tremendous support he has received from them since  his election in 2007 saying that their cooperation has made the government to achieve the success it has recorded in the last 7 years.
