Niger State Governor Mohammed Umar Bago has presented over N1.031 trillion as the 2026 proposed appropriation bill to the State Assembly for passage.
This year’s estimated budget is tagged; “Budget of Consolidation”.
It was presented by the Governor at the chamber of the State House of Assembly in Minna.
According to him, More than N270 billion (26.19%) was estimated as recurrent expenditure, while capital expenditure stands at above N761 billion, representing 73.81% of the total estimate.
Governor Bago said the budget is expected to be financed by revenue from statutory allocation, value-added tax (VAT), internally generated revenue.
While giving the sectorial breakdown of the 2026 budget, he said the economic sector got the highest allocation of over N510 billion, while the transportation sector got the lowest estimate of above N1 billion.
The governor then urged the State Assembly to promptly consider and pass the 2026 appropriation bill for the overall benefit of the state.
He made this statement at a 2-day Domestic Resource Mobilization Workshop, held at Ibeto Hotel, Abuja, on December 3-4, 2025, alongside other Plateau State LGA chairmen.
The workshop, organized by the Plateau State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (PLASCHEMA), brought together chairmen of all 17 Local Government Councils in Plateau State to strategize on enhancing healthcare delivery.
