According to Dr. Shettima, the exercise was carried out in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Electoral Act 2022.
He commended all participating political parties and stakeholders, including security agencies, civil society organizations, journalists, and the Inter-Party Advisory Council (AIPAC) of Borno State, for their role in ensuring the success of the elections.
He gave special recognition to Governor Babagana Umara Zulum for his commitment to deepening democracy at the local government level by approving the resources necessary for the conduct of the elections.
Dr. Shettima urged the elected officials to provide quality representation and deliver the dividends of democracy to the people at the grassroots.
Peopl Daily reports that Governor Zulum, while casting his vote on Saturday in his hometown of Mafa, had predicted victory for the APC.
